A Refined Front Landscape Transformation by M. Hudson Design
A Fresh Perspective on Timeless Design
This Mediterranean residence presented a unique opportunity to rejuvenate a classic home without compromising its architectural integrity. Rather than a full remodel, the design focused on a thoughtful front and side yard transformation that complemented a new garage addition and second-story expansion.
The goal was to preserve the original charm of the home—its warm stucco façade, arched forms, and brickwork detailing—while introducing a more transitional, clean-lined landscape expression. The result is a front approach that feels refreshed, organized, and gracefully restrained, bridging Mediterranean character with modern sensibility.
Honoring Character Through Craft
In keeping with the home’s established material palette, M. Hudson Design chose to preserve the existing Chicago brick pavers—a rare and richly textured surface that had become nearly impossible to source. Each brick was carefully lifted, cleaned, and reinstalled in a new layout that accommodates the home’s expanded footprint and added parking spaces.
To enhance flow and functionality, a dedicated golf cart path was introduced along the right side of the property, seamlessly connecting the front approach with the rear garage. A new front entry wall and pedestrian gate provide both definition and elegance, framing the courtyard with a sense of enclosure while maintaining a warm welcome.
